David Martin Profile

Promising goalkeeper David Martin is on a six-month loan at Leicester City.

The youngster, whose father Alvin played for West Ham, signed for the Reds from Milton Keynes Dons in January 2006.

He featured 25 times for the Dons after emerging from their youth ranks.

As a boy, Martin enjoyed a spell at Spurs, though back then he was a defender.

He has yet to earn his senior competitive debut for the Reds, though did make the bench when Reading came to Anfield for a Carling Cup clash in October 2006.

The Romford-born stopper, who has one England Under-20 cap to his name, was loaned to Accrington Stanley in February 2007, making 10 appearances.

In May 2008 he signed a new contract at Anfield keeping him at the club until June 2010.

Charles Itandje Profile

Liverpool signed goalkeeper Charles Itandje from Lens in August 2007.

The stopper is a former French under-21 international, though his parents are from Cameroon.

Itandje began his career with Red Star 93, where a single season was enough to alert clubs across Europe. He even had a trial at Gerard Houllier's Liverpool, but it was Lens who eventually secured the teenager's signature.

After a season on the bench, the youngster was the beneficiary of a series of high-profile blunders from first choice keeper Guillaume Warmuz. He was installed in the first team in January 2003 and never looked back.

Itandje, who has been known to dance during penalty shoot-outs to put off his opponents, was brought to Liverpool initially as cover for Pepe Reina.

His first chance to impress came on September 25, 2007 when he started in a 4-2 Carling Cup victory over Reading.

Diego Cavalieri Profile

Brazilian goalkeeper Diego Cavalieri signed from Palmeiras in July 2008.

The stopper penned a four-year contract with the Reds and will act as understudy to Pepe Reina in goal.

Cavalieri became the third Brazilian to sign for Liverpool after Fabio Aurelio and Lucas Leiva.

After breaking into the Palmeiras team in 2002, he was linked to a host of European clubs - but Merseyside was his chosen destination.

Upon signing, Cavalieri told Liverpoolfc.tv: "I know it won't be easy to get into the team. I watched some Liverpool games in both the Premier League and Champions League last year and I know Pepe is a very good goalkeeper. But everyone has to fight for their place and I'm sure we will have a healthy rivalry.

"I know I will have to be patient and work very hard to achieve my aims - but it is always like that when you come from another country. You have to adapt inside and outside of the pitch and get used to the way things work. But with hard work you get there.

"My confidence has got me where I am today and maybe people are aware of what I did at Palmeiras in Brazil. I am sure that one day I can get the number one position but that will only come with hard work."

Born in Brazil, Cavalieri also holds an Italian passport.

Jose Reina Profile

José was signed by Liverpool from Villarreal in July 2005. He is a penalty-saving specialist, having saved seven from nine kicks faced at Villarreal in the 2004/2005 season. Reina has taken over as goalkeeper in the place of European Cup hero Jerzy Dudek, and is seen as one of the most promising young goalkeepers in European football.

Before moving to Villarreal, Reina made a total of 29 appearances for Barcelona from 2000 - 2002.

On 17th August 2005 Pepe Reina made his debut for Spain in a friendly match against Uruguay. Spain won 2-0.

On 3rd December 2005 he notched up his sixth consecutive clean sheet against Wigan in the Premiership. He now holds the club record for successive clean sheets in the Premiership era surpassing David James' five from the 1996/97 season.

On 28th December 2005, this incredible run of clean sheets ended when Everton's James Beattie headed past Reina into the Liverpool net in Liverpool's 3-1 win over their Merseyside rivals.

On 5th February 2006, Reina, having made a clumsy challenge on Eidur Gudjohnsen moments earlier, was controversially sent-off in Liverpool's 2-0 defeat to Chelsea and banned for three matches for pushing Arjen Robben, who fell down somewhat easily.

Later in 2006 he celebrated his 50th appearance with a clean sheet and created a new record for a Liverpool keeper having conceded only 29 goals in his first 50 games, beating a record of 32 held by Ray Clemence from 1970/71. At the end of the season in the FA Cup Final a number of his errors allowed West Ham to take a 3-2 lead before Gerrard equalised late on before Reina redeemed himself with a last minute save in extra-time. He went on to save 3 out of 4 West Ham penalties helping Liverpool to win the FA Cup.

Again in the 2007 Champions League semi-final, a match against Chelsea, he was awarded man of the match after two fantastic saves from Frank Lampard. In the second leg penalty shootout Reina saved two out of the three kicks, the reds went through to the final after a 4-1 penalty shootout win.

In June 2008 he won his third consecutive Premiership golden glove award after keeping 18 clean sheets in the season. In the summer of 2008 he was part of the Spain squad which won the European Championships.
