There is no wonderful Christmas gift for supporters of Liverpool after the Reds 1-3 defeat at the Britannia Stadium Stoke City. In the match held at the Britannia Stadium, Liverpool actually started well when Steven Gerrard penalty in the first minute put them ahead.

Liverpool tried to make an attack, but the tight defense of Stoke make their difficulties through. While retaining Stoke counter-attack long balls interspersed troublesome Liverpool rearguard.

The Reds Optimism for next match vs Stoke City

After the victory over Fulham, Liverpool full of optimism. Brendan Rodgers believes his team will get better, starting with the face Stoke City on Boxing Day.

Stoke managed to draw against Liverpool at Anfield in October. However, after a win over Newcastle United last November, The Potters yet again to achieve maximum results. Ryan Shawcross and friends could only grab three draws plus one defeat.

On the other hand, Liverpool is being motivated. The win over Fulham colored with nice appearance Stewart Downing and Luis Suarez scored again, after fasting for four matches in the Premier League.

The match against Stoke at the Britannia Stadium on Tuesday (12/26/2012), was expected to re-produce maximum performance.

"We will be better in the second half of the season," Rodgers said as quoted by AP.

"We just need to continue to improve and continue to perform consistently. If we can do that, then we have a chance to continue to improve its position in the league."

On the other hand, Stoke also had its own targets, although it sounds simpler targets than targets Liverpool.

"We want 40 points. Was past that we need," said Tony Pullis.

Suarez ignored, although poorly imaged

A James Collins own goal fired Liverpool into the top half of the Barclays Premier League table and clinched a thrilling 3-2 win for the Reds at Upton Park against West Ham.

Brendan Rodgers' men made it back-to-back wins in the league for the first time this season and leapfrogged above the Hammers - but they had to come from behind late in the game to do so.
Glen Johnson put them into the lead after just 10 minutes when he produced a goal-of-the-season contender from the edge of Jussi Jaaskelainen's penalty area.

Mark Noble slotted from the spot after Joe Allen was adjudged to have handled in the penalty area before Steven Gerrard turned a Matt Jarvis cross past his own 'keeper to give West Ham the lead.
However, Joe Cole struck against his old club to equalise and then Collins turned a Jordan Henderson cross  into his own net to send the travelling Reds into euphoria.

All the build-up to the clash revolved around the absence of Luis Suarez, who was ruled out after picking up his fifth yellow card against Southampton, but his replacement Shelvey proved to be the hero of the hour.

Liverpool progressed to the knockout stages of the Europa League on Thursday night after Jordan Henderson fired his first goal of the season to give the Reds a deserved 1-0 win against Udinese.
Only the efforts of former Liverpool goalkeeper Daniele Padelli stopped them from scoring a handful of goals on the night but the stopper was powerless to prevent Henderson rifling the ball past him on 23 minutes.
It means the Reds move into the last 32 of the competition as Group A winners after Young Boys beat Anzhi 3-1 in Switzerland.

A Daniel Agger header was enough to return Liverpool to winning ways as Southampton were dispatched 1-0 at Anfield.
On a day when Lucas Leiva returned from three months on the sidelines, the Reds were worthy winners.
They twice hit the woodwork before Agger found the net, and could have had a penalty when Suarez was dragged back in the box.
